“4 Your Rights” training of trainers (1.5-2 days) and peer training (1 day) workshops are an important component of the campaign.

The training programs include sections on human rights, civics, gender equality and nature of patriarchy, and creative campaigning for social change. All sections are highly interactive and include role play and group work and incorporate collective analyses. Fun activities are worked in such as drawing and creating one’s own campaign T-shirt.

As youth themselves participate in the development of the training content and methodology, already in the process of preparation, they develop research, analysis, teamwork, facilitation, coordination, and training skills as well as listening, speaking, and problem-solving skills. In addition, they learn to hold press-conferences, plan public events, and street actions to focus public and media attention on specific human rights and gender equality issues.

In 2008, we trained over 100 young people. In 2009, with support from AUSAID, we shall conduct 4 TOT workshops and 12 peer training workshops. We will also develop a colorful and informative manual to be used by peer trainers.
