2008 has been a very busy and at times difficult year for MONFEMNET! As the rest of the country, we were deeply affected by the State of Emergency and massive violations of human rights, which followed the parliamentary elections of June. However, looking back, we can state with confidence and clear conscience that we did everything possible in 2008 to promote human rights and gender justice, to strengthen civil society networks and partnerships, to build civil society capacity and to foster youth empowerment. Looking forward, we expect more hardships but stand ready to face the challenges and seize exciting opportunities to bring social change, especially through our work with young people, extending our networks, and continuing our policy analysis and advocacy work. As you will see from the highlights we are presenting here, our 2008 activities have been a mix of planned projects, urgent actions and, as usual at MONFEMNET, exciting experiments. We enthusiastically thank our sponsors and partners for enabling us to do this work! |
