“The Youth Campaign “Hands Up 4 Your Rights” is intended as a fun, dynamic and participatory mechanism to support youth empowerment and youth activism for human rights, gender justice and democracy in Mongolia.
It was initiated and is conducted in a context that is largely unfavorable due to the age-hierarchical, youth- and children-unfriendly cultural context, wide-spread manipulation of youth by political groups/parties, financial shortages, atmosphere of fear of anything related to human rights and democracy in the aftermath of mass violations of human rights since July 1, 2008 (following the State of Emergency announced after electoral violence).
The strategy used in the campaign is to market human rights in a fun, accessible, creative and positive fashion, focusing specifically on youth, use peer training and fun public activities as well as media.
The campaign is led by the “Let’s Develop” Youth Club and Youth Club of Amnesty International Mongolia and supported by MONFEMNET in cooperation with Amnesty International Mongolia.
